Buying a domain

Search for the name from Quick Buy in Dash. If it's available, select Register. If it's already registered elsewhere and can be transferred, select Transfer. Each leads to a short checkout.

Where to start​

  • In Dash: select Domain under Quick Buy at the top of Dash. On a smaller screen, open the Quick Buy button at the bottom of the page. You need to be signed in.
  • On perlod.com: search from perlod.com/domain. Dash asks you to sign in or sign up when you select Continue to contact details.

Both lead to the same Register or Transfer checkout.

Search for a domain​

Type the name you want, optionally pick an extension from the TLD list, and select Check Availability. Each result shows one of Available, Registered, Check failed, or Unknown.

  • An available domain shows a Register button.
  • A registered domain that supports transfer shows a Transfer button.
  • A registered domain that doesn't support transfer, or a failed check, shows no button. It can't be bought here.

Register a new domain​

  1. Select Register. On the Domain step, choose the registration term.
  2. On the Contact step, fill in or confirm the registrant contact details, then save them.
  3. Select Continue to payment, choose a payment method, and pay.

Transfer a domain in​

Before you start, turn off transfer lock at your current registrar, get the domain's authorization (EPP) code from them, and check that the domain is eligible to transfer.

  1. Select Transfer. On the Transfer step, enter the authorization code and select Save code. You can't continue without it. Dash doesn't keep the code across a sign-in, so enter it again if you're asked to log in partway through.
  2. On the Contact step, fill in or confirm the contact details for the transfer, then save them.
  3. Select Continue to payment, choose a payment method, and pay.

If Dash switches or suggests switching between Register and Transfer​

If the name you typed for registration is already registered, or the name you typed for transfer isn't registered yet, Dash switches the flow for you and explains why. Check the banner before continuing.

If you start a transfer while a registration of the same domain is already in your cart, Dash says so and offers Switch to transfer. Selecting it replaces the registration with a transfer. If the domain isn't registered anywhere, the switch is refused and the registration stays in your cart.

Only one order at a time​

The cart holds one item, either a domain or a server. Continuing with a new order replaces whatever is already in the cart, and Dash warns you before this happens.

After payment​

You land on Payment received, which takes you to the invoice. The domain appears in Domains as Pending while registration or transfer completes. Transfers can take longer than new registrations.

Partial payment does not activate the order

If a crypto payment settles for less than the full amount, the invoice becomes Partially paid and the domain is not registered or transferred yet. Pay the remaining balance from the invoice to move it forward.
