Common domain actions

These actions are on the domain's Management tab, shown only while the domain is Active or Expiring soon. Each change is sent to the registry, and Recent requests on the same tab shows its outcome:

  • Sent: the change went through.
  • Waiting for registry: the registry has the change but hasn't applied it yet. The row keeps this badge, so reload the page after a few minutes and check the setting itself.
  • Failed: nothing was changed, and the row shows why.

Change nameservers​

  1. On Nameservers, choose PerLod DNS, or Custom DNS and enter up to four nameservers (NS1 to NS4).
  2. Select Save.

Result: DNS changes take time to spread after you save.

Update WHOIS information​

  1. On WHOIS Information, edit the fields, or check Use primary profile information to copy your profile.
  2. Fill in Name (first and last), Email, Country, Phone, Address, City, and Postal.
  3. Select Save.

Request the EPP code​

The EPP code goes only to the registrant email address in the domain's WHOIS information, and only after the registrant confirms the request.

  1. On Protection and privacy, check Transfer lock. If it's Locked, turn it off. If it's Unknown, turn it on, then off.
  2. Select Request EPP code and confirm Request the EPP code?.
  3. PerLod emails a confirmation link to the registrant email address. The registrant opens it and selects Confirm on the Confirm EPP code request page. No PerLod sign-in is needed.

Result: a new EPP code is emailed to the same registrant address, and any earlier code stops working. The confirmation link works once. If it has expired or was already used, request the code again.

Turn transfer lock on or off​

On Protection and privacy, select the Transfer lock switch. It applies immediately, with no confirmation. Keep transfer lock on unless you're moving the domain.

Hide or show WHOIS contact details​

WHOIS contact details are Hidden by default: the registrant's name, address, email address, and phone number don't appear in public WHOIS.

  • To show them, select the WHOIS contact details switch and confirm Show in WHOIS.
  • To hide them again, select the switch. It applies immediately.

If a switch change doesn't go through, the switch goes back to the current setting.

Add or change DNSSEC records​

  1. On DNSSEC, enter Key tag, Algorithm, Digest type, and Digest from your DNS provider. Algorithm offers 5, 7, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15, and 16, and Digest type offers 1 (SHA-1), 2 (SHA-256), and 4 (SHA-384).
  2. Use Add another for more records, up to six in total.
  3. Select Save.

Result: the values are checked when you save, so copy them exactly from your DNS provider. If a record is refused, see Domain troubleshooting.

Remove DNSSEC​

Remove DNSSEC withdraws every DS record. Until you publish new ones or your DNS provider stops signing the zone, resolvers that check DNSSEC can refuse the domain.

  1. On DNSSEC, select Remove DNSSEC.
  2. Confirm Remove DNSSEC in Remove DNSSEC from this domain?.

Set child nameservers (glue records)​

  1. On Child nameservers, enter a Host and an IP address. For a host with several addresses, add one row per address with the same host, using Add another. A host can have IPv6 addresses only alongside an IPv4 address.
  2. Select Save.
