Common domain actions

These actions are on the domain's Management tab, shown only while the domain is Active or Expiring soon. After each change, check Recent requests on the same tab: Sent means it went to the registrar, and Failed shows why it didn't.

Change nameservers​

  1. On Nameservers, choose PerLod DNS, or Custom DNS and enter up to four nameservers (NS1 to NS4).
  2. Select Save.

Result: Nameservers updated successfully. DNS changes take time to spread after that.

Update WHOIS information​

  1. On WHOIS Information, edit the fields, or check Use primary profile information to copy your profile.
  2. Fill in Name (first and last), Email, Country, Phone, Address, City, and Postal.
  3. Select Save.

Result: Domain contact saved, and the registrant is updated at the registrar.

Request the EPP code​

  1. On Protection and privacy, turn off Transfer lock if it's Locked.
  2. Select Request EPP code and confirm Request the EPP code?.

Result: the registrar emails the code to the registrant email in the domain's WHOIS information. It isn't shown in Dash or included in PerLod's confirmation email. If transfer lock is still on, Dash shows Transfer lock is on and sends nothing.

Turn transfer lock or WHOIS privacy on or off​

On Protection and privacy, select the Transfer lock or WHOIS privacy switch. It applies immediately, with no confirmation. If the change fails, the switch goes back. Keep transfer lock on unless you're moving the domain.

Add or change DNSSEC records​

  1. On DNSSEC, enter Key tag, Algorithm, Digest type, and Digest from your DNS provider. Algorithm offers 5, 7, 8, 10, 13, 14, 15, and 16, and Digest type offers 1 (SHA-1), 2 (SHA-256), and 4 (SHA-384).
  2. Use Add another for more records, up to six in total.
  3. Select Save.

Result: DNSSEC DS records updated successfully. The values are checked when you save, so copy them exactly from your DNS provider. A digest of the wrong length for the digest type is refused, and so is a key tag outside 0 to 65535.

Remove DNSSEC​

Remove DNSSEC withdraws every DS record. Until you publish new ones or your DNS provider stops signing the zone, resolvers that check DNSSEC can refuse the domain.

  1. On DNSSEC, select Remove DNSSEC (shown only while records are published).
  2. Confirm Remove DNSSEC in Remove DNSSEC from this domain?.

Result: DNSSEC has been removed., and the record fields are cleared.

Set child nameservers (glue records)​

  1. On Child nameservers, enter a Host and an IP address (IPv4 or IPv6). For a host with several addresses, add one row per address with the same host, using Add another.
  2. Select Save.

Result: Child nameservers updated successfully.
